We start the city tour of Yangon to its unique landmarks and historical heritage. This tour will also captivate the souls of those interested in Pindaya’s mysterious caves; Kalaw, a popular trekking paradise and the majestic Inle Lake: everything southern Shan State has to offer. You will enjoy seeing the fascinating Pindaya Caves, filled with the marvelous spectacle of thousands of Buddha images that are believed to have been there since 11th century. Kalaw is a serene hill town located to the west of Inle Lake and is set amongst magnificent pine forests. With its pleasant and cool climate, the area has become very popular with trekkers. Our two-day trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake will give you the chance to experience the untouched and stunning landscapes Kalaw has to offer while mingling with locals and some minority ethnic tribes. Finally, you will able to sight the mesmerising lake scenery and surrounding hazy distant mountains.
Upon arrival of Yangon International Airport (a.m arrival), your journey starts with a visit to the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, a magnificent reclining Buddha Image and Sule Pagoda, said to be as old as 2000 years, standing at the heart of the city as the central reference point from where all the major streets of Yangon radiate. The sightseeing includes Kandawgyi(Royal Lake),an oasis in the middle of the bustling city, where floats a large structure known as the Karaweik, modelled after a royal barge used by Burmese kings. The lake itself is a unique place for taking scenic pictures with Shwedagon Pagoda in the background. Complete a day tour in Yangon with an extended visit to one of the sacred landmarks of Myanmar, Shwedagon Pagoda. You will have a chance to walk round in 360 degree the golden stupa enshrining the Buddha’s sacred hairs. Overnight in Yangon.
This morning,depart from Yangon to Heho by plane. After an-hour drive, you will proceed to Pindaya, a town famous for its giant natural limestone caves located 1,515 meter above sea level, in which various sizes of over 8000 Buddha images are accommodated. After then, visit a local home to see the production of traditional bamboo umbrellas and Shan paper made from the fibres of the barks of mulberry trees.Then depart from Pindaya to Kalaw by car along the road passing by beautiful landscapes filled with farmers’ cultivations. Overnight in Kalaw.
After breakfast, we will drive you to the starting point of trekking, La Maing. Start the day with a two-hour walk to Paw Kei Village where you have the chance to learn about the hand-made weaving. Local families would welcome you and have a friendly chat with you over a cup of green tea.Continue trekking for around an hour towards Khone Hla Village. We will take a break there for some freshly prepared lunch. You enjoy local meal whilst appreciating the mesmerizing mountain view. Continue walking about three hours by passing through a variety of landscapes, diverse vegetation and paddy fields until you hit Pattu Pauk Village. After last thirty minutes’ trek, you will arrive in Hti Thein where dinner is ready to be served and settle in for the night in a monastery.
After breakfast, we will start the day with a 1 hour 30 minutes’ trek to Kyauk Su village which is well known for bamboo baskets weaving. This is a good opportunity to watch and learn how to make different shapes and sizes of bamboo baskets. Another one-hour walk to Nan Yoke village from where you can appreciate the majestic Inle Lake in the distance. You will enjoy the countryside by passing through the tealeaves plantations and some rice field. Continue trekking for around 2 hour to Tone Le and finish off the trek. After taking a relaxing boat trip to Inle Lake, you can either make your way to your hotel or go straight to sightseeing in the lake. Your first visit will be at the local silversmith workshops in Ywama village. Complete the day with explorations of the lake people’s lifestyle: floating Islands and gardens made from the naturally tangled roosts water hyacinth plants and reeds, and fishermen who balance and row with one leg - a unique leg-rowing and fishing style of the local lake people, called “Intha”.
This day’s lake visit starts with a local market. After then, a boat journey out to Indein village about 15 minutes on a small creek stretching from the lake westward. Reach Indein Pagoda and walk through 403 pillars of the Pagoda’s long corridor to visit the 11<sup>th</sup>Century pagodas built with Shan architectural designs. Stops in Inle include Phaungdawoo Pagoda, the most sacred shrine located in the lake;Inpawkhon village where silk is produced from fibres extracted from lotus flowers; local blacksmith and cheroot making workshops in Nampan village; the Nga Phe Choung Monastery, an old wooden one,with a collection of antique Buddha images. It was formerly famous for the jumping cats. During this excursion, you can see leg rowers, fishermen, and flooding gardens in Inle Lake. Boat ride to hotel on the lake.
After breakfast, check out and leave the hotel. Travel toHeho Airport by car to fly back to Yangon. The afternoon tour in Yangon takes you to visit Botataung Pagoda, hollow but housed what is believed to be a sacred hair of Buddha. Then, we will drive you to Bogyoke Aung San Market, formerly Scott Market, a shopper’s paradise with numerous shops of gemstones, gold, handicrafts, arts, clothing and many other souvenirs (Closed on Mondays). Before returning back to the hotel, the China town area is worth visiting. It is one of the most enjoyable parts of the downtown and you can observe many vendors on the platform.
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure.
